Keynote Speaker at NCCE George Couros

Keynote speaker George Couros from a school in Canada, a principal who models connected learning as the new way to lead students and get them engaged in the classroom:

Learning happens when we create, Creating is Learning.

If we don’t consider people literate if they can read but not write; why would they be literate if we can consume information but not create it?

Video idea:  what questions would you like to ask yourself at the end of the year?  Film the students at the beginning of the year, then have them mash those up

Google is the new business cards

Jeremiah Anthony twitter westhighbros – positive compliments to people who are feeling bad, or who have done something great.  Way to create positive vibes within a community.  “Sincere” complements – real.  Student population creating different way of interacting, counteracting bullying and cyberbullying via positive actions like “pay it forward”.

Kids change the quality of their work when you give them an audience.  They will defy expectations if you give them an opportunity (audience).

CONNECT with each other, connect with the kids, connections as a way of learning, sharing ideas, creating
