iPad battery life draining to fast

Tech support staff person Linda provided this information to help staff who are encountering iPads that are draining iPad battery life faster than last year.  The iOS 7 update has made some changes you can tweak to help.

iPad battery life draining to fast?

If you are experiencing shorter battery life on your iPad you may want to try these simple tricks to improve it.

1. Disable Background App Update

iOS 7 allows apps to continue updating while in the background.  Turning this feature off will help your battery last longer:

·      Settings > General > Background App Refresh > Off

2.  Turn Off Auto App Update

Having apps automatically update can be convenient but it tends to drain batteries.

·      Settings > iTunes & App Store > Automatic Downloads > Updates to OFF

3.  Turn Down Display Brightness

Keeping your screen bright looks great but it is one of the most common reasons for batteries to run down quickly on many battery operated devices.

Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and turn down brightness, even if you only turn it down a bit you should see increased battery life.

Exporting students from WESPaC Gradebook to make contacts in Gmail

You can generate a list of e-mail addresses for each of your student sections, that you can cut/paste into your contacts in e-mail.

Go into WESPaC

Click Teacher Access, then My Gradebook

Click the Secondary Gradebook link for the first section you want to work with
Open the Reports Menu, and choose "Class Roster" from the list

Choose Email from the list, and click "Export to Excel"

The student e-mail column is the one you want.  Copy and paste it into gmail, and you can create a group with it as follows:

Click the mail menu in the upper left corner of Gmail
Click Contacts

Click New Group in the sidebar
Name it after the section of the grade book you chose in the steps above

Click the add people button after clicking the name of the group in the sidebar
Click Paste, and it should add the students to your e-mail list
